The
Earth, My World
by Illoloba Mac-Aworu
International Secondary School, Port Harcourt
She was my daughter
More than just a mother
Just like a sister
But now left in hunger
Like a slave to her master
Hungry lands once fed from her table.
On the first day of planting on her soil
She lost her virginity
Got married to fertility
And later left alone like pepper planted in harmattan
Now thirsty, hungry and angry you are
Because you are under the threat of Desertification
As a result of Deforestation.
Freak weather condition
Left me with the inscription
"How can my daughter be restored back?"
My daughter 1 shall preserve
From the harsh weather
I shall recycle you back to life
Your blooming health restored
And blissful honour bestowed
My daughter, you shall again live.
